The cameroonian SDF MP Djeumeni Benilde invited the people of his constituency of South Moungo (Cameroon) on 17 January 2021 to account for his first 9 months of work in the National Assembly.
The purpose of the meeting is to see "if the entire population is in harmony with him" in his way of working at their service both in Yaounde and at the local level.
The report of his parliamentary work during the first 9 months can be downloaded below.
The point of reporting on his parliamentary activities is:
- to inform the people personally about "what has happened in nine months",
- to present and explain "the different laws that have been taken in the assembly",
- to give "an account of the implementation of micro-projects" for which each Member of Parliament receives a specific budget from the State of Cameroon, and
- to sit "around a table to brainstorm, criticize" and armed with the conclusions of these discussions, define "how to work in 2021".
One of the criticisms most often heard against Cameroonian MPs is the lack of transparency in their parliamentary work, and in particular the opacity on the use of funds made available to them to improve the daily lives of their constituents within the framework of the famous mico-projects. In this respect, the Honourable Djeumeni sets an example and sets the bar very high.
